How to choose the right cruising area
The Mediterranean and the Adriatic offer the right cruising area for every crew. Those sailing a catamaran for the first time will feel particularly at home in sheltered island waters with short passages and plenty of bays to anchor in. Experienced crews, on the other hand, often seek out areas with strong winds and longer crossings.
Consider the wind and season
Each cruising area has its own wind patterns. In the Adriatic, the Bora and Maestral provide variety, while in the Aegean, the Meltemi often blows in summer. Each cruising area page therefore includes the best season, typical winds and an assessment of the level of difficulty.
Anchorages and suggested itineraries
For each cruising area, we present a selection of beautiful anchorages – from quiet, unspoilt bays to lively harbour towns. The suggested itineraries show you how to plan a week or more effectively, with legs, stops and approximate distances in nautical miles.
All information is intended for inspiration and preparation. For navigation on board, you always need up-to-date nautical charts, harbour guides and the current weather forecast.
